Salvador da Bahia - Porto : Initiatique travel as a Brazilian person.
In 2002, I had a life as a capoeirist and teacher of French at the Mecca of capoeira Salvador da Bahia. It was 5 months of total immersion in this region of Brazil steeped in history and cultures forever linked to Africa. It is the inhabitants of this city who at the end of my stay considered me almost Brazilian as someone local of or at least a Carioca.
It was not until much later that I went to Portugal and walked my eyes and my steps in search of explanations among other things on the traces of colonization in Brazil.
And it was a Brazilian performer friend who once told me in Lisbon : "You are on an initiatory journey like the Brazilians in fact !"
I chose these 4 photographs for a look at childhood in these countries and were exhibited at the Forum des Photographes, Corum, Montpellier 2007.
